The Membership: There are over 200 members including families, seniors, and single people. Some of the languages spoken here are: Cantonese, Mandarin, French, Spanish, and English.

Location: Four Sisters Co-op is located in the one hundred block of Alexander and Powell Streets—west of Main Street—in Vancouver, British Columbia.  map

The Buildings: There are 153 apartments in the three buildings that make up the Co-op.

Facilities & Amenities

  • Laundry: Each building has its own laundry room. Cool, eh.
  • Parking: There are 74 underground parking spaces below the High-rise. Entrance is from the lane.
  • Green Space: In addition to the children’s play areas and the ground level landscaping, there are several rooftop gardens and patio spaces. Each building has at least one, all of which are available to all members regardless of which building they live in.
  • Views: Views vary from suite to suite, however, all members can enjoy spectacular views of Burrard Inlet, Stanley Park, and the city from the rooftop gardens and other common areas of the Co-op.
  • Accessibility: There are twenty suites that have been modified for persons with physical disabilities. Each suite meets the space requirement for someone in a wheelchair: 5 bachelor, 5 one-bedroom, and 10 two-bedroom suites.
  • Common Rooms and Areas:
  • High-rise: Large meeting room on the ground level; TV lounge on the 1st floor; library on the 2nd floor; conservatory and garden on the 7th floor.
  • Low-rise: fitness room on ground level.
  • Reno: large common room with full kitchen; workshop; multipurpose room—all on the lower level.
Reno building

Reno:
118 Alexander Street is a renovated warehouse of wood, brick, and stone construction, with additional sound-proofing added during the renovation. All wiring, walls, and windows were entirely new materials and was recently had it's plumbing replaced. It is five stories high. There are 13 bachelor, 19 one-bedroom and 21  two-bedroom apartments in the building.

Low-rise building

Low-rise:
133 Powell Street (building on the left) is a three and a half story wood frame building. The most effective sound proofing methods for wooden buildings were used in the construction. It has 6 bachelor, 3  two-bedroom, and 4  three-bedroom apartments.

Highrise building

High-rise:
153 Powell is a seven-story concrete building (viewed from the courtyard, see home page for the front view). There are 12 bachelor, 40 one-bedroom, 24 two-bedroom, and 11 three-bedroom apartments.
